GALVESTON – A Galveston woman alleges a contractor she hired failed to remediate toxic mold in her home.

Terri Lee Carlson filed a complaint on June 20 in the Galveston County District Court against Kiwi Services Inc. alleging breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 5, 2016, she contracted the defendant to locate and remediate mold in her home for a total cost of $5,237.43. Due to defendant’s alleged poor quality workmanship, the suit states her home remains a safety hazard and uninhabitable due to high level of toxic mold, causing her damages of more than $89,057.43.

The plaintiff holds Kiwi Services Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly falsely represented that it has the license to perform mold remediation services in Texas when its license was declared null and void by the state in 2016.

The plaintiff seeks actual and economic damages of at least $89,057.43, plus interest, attorney’s fees, costs and such other and further relief to which she is entitled. She is represented by Erin E. Eckert of The Law Office of Erin E. Eckert in Houston.
