HOUSTON – A seaman alleges he was injured while working for his employer and is seeking more than $1 million.

Jesus Nunez filed a complaint on June 25 in the Harris County District Court against Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC citing Title 46 of U.S. Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 17, he was in the course and scope of his employment working aboard defendant's vessel when he injured his low back while pulling heavy cables and doing miniwraps. He alleges the defendant's safety professional told him he was not allowed to write what really caused his injury on the incident report.

The plaintiff alleges he has suffered a loss of wages and medical expenses as a result of the incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $1 million, plus interest, costs and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Anthony G. Buzbee and Christopher J. Leavitt of The Buzbee Law Firm in Houston.
