Convergent Outsourcing alleged to have contacted third party to collect debt

HOUSTON – A Highlands resident alleges that a debt collector unlawfully contacted a family member.

Eduardo G. Santos filed a complaint on June 28 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Convergent Outsourcing Inc. alleging that the collection agency violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that after he fell behind on his payments owed to T-Mobile, the defendant began collecting upon the subject debt. He alleges the defendant contacted his father regarding the debt without his permission

The plaintiff holds Convergent Outsourcing Inc. responsible because defendant disclosed information about the debt to a third party without his consent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, actual damages, costs and attorney fees, and such other and further relief as this court deems just and appropriate.
