HOUSTON – Claiming she was injured while completing a workout at a local gym, Harris County resident Helen Dowdy has pursued legal action.

Dowdy is suing Titan Fitness, LLC, also known as Titan Fitness, Inc., doing business as Fitness Connection Baytown, in response to her purported mishap with a treadmill on July 5, 2016.

Her lawsuit, which was filed on June 29 in the Harris County 151st District Court, says she attempted to stop the treadmill after using it, but the machine “unexpectedly started to go faster and as a result she fell and suffered serious injuries.”

The plaintiff asserts that the gym failed to properly maintain the piece of equipment.

Consequently, she seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Carver L. Henry and Kanan B. Henry of the law firm Henry, McDonald & James P.C. in Houston are representing the complainant.
