HOUSTON – An Iowa debt collector is alleged to have harassed a woman with its collection calls.

Laura K. Warren filed a complaint on June 29 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against CBE Group Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2017, she began receiving calls to her cellular telephone from defendant attempting to collect on a defaulted debt. She alleges she instructed the defendant to stop calling her but the calls have continued.

The plaintiff holds CBE Group Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly invaded her privacy with its alleged harassment campaign.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and punitive damages, costs and reasonable attorney fees and such other and further relief as the court deems just and proper. She is represented by Alexander J. Taylor, Marwan R. Daher and Omar T. Sulaiman of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
