HOUSTON – A guest at a Houston hotel alleges he was injured when he fell entering an elevator because of a slippery floor.
Jessie Pizano filed a complaint on June 29 in the Harris County District Court against Choice Hotels International Inc. and Choice Hotels International Services Corp. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 22, 2017, he was injured at defendants' Comfort Suites when he stepped on a slippery substance and fell while entering an elevator. He alleges he suffered injuries resulting in pain, mental anguish, medical expenses, lost wages and disfigurement as a result of the fall.
The plaintiff holds Choice Hotels International Inc. and Choice Hotels International Services Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to ensure that the elevator floors were properly and securely cleaned and failed to provide adequate warning of the existing danger.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of no less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Keith W. Lapeze and Taylor Shipman of Lapeze & Johns PLLC in Houston.
