HOUSTON – A man shot twice at a Houston apartment complex earlier this year is seeking damages from the owners and managers of the property over allegations they failed to provide adequate security.

Jose S. Gamez filed a complaint on July 10 in the Harris County District Court against Eureka Multifamily Group LP and Eureka Multifamily Group GP Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, he was at defendants' La Casita Apartments' parking lot to pick up his brothers when two unknown individuals approached them, pointed a gun and asked for money. The suit states one of the assailants shot him twice.

The plaintiff holds Eureka Multifamily Group LP and Eureka Multifamily Group GP Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently failed to provide adequate security.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and any further relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by Carlos A. Leon and Piero Garcia of The Leon Firm PC in Sugar Land.
