BoyarMiller issued the following announcement on July 16.

BoyarMiller is pleased to announce that Stacy Stanley Russell, a distinguished litigator with more than 20 years of legal experience, has joined the firm as Of Counsel.

Russell previously held the post of Managing Counsel of the worldwide disputes/litigation group, and the health, safety and environment group at Halliburton, a global oil and gas services company.

“Stacy’s background offers a unique understanding of the challenges facing in-house counsel, including the demands to achieve success within budget and with minimal disruption to business,” said Chris Hanslik, BoyarMiller Chairman. “She is a sought-after skilled attorney and we are very proud that she chose to join BoyarMiller.”

During her tenure with Halliburton, Russell was responsible for developing and managing the company’s dispute resolution strategy, including managing pre-litigation disputes, active court and arbitration proceedings, advising C-level executives on crisis, risk and going-forward options, developing budgets, and retaining and managing outside counsel. She also led Halliburton’s team of health, safety and environmental attorneys.

Russell has worked on many high profile cases both during her tenure at Halliburton and in private practice.

“BoyarMiller has a unique culture and a focused client-centric direction,” said Russell. “I felt a real connection with the firm and that was important to me in returning to private practice.”

Before Halliburton, Russell held partner and associate positions at independent law firms.

While in private practice, she tried jury cases in state and federal courts and arbitrations through hearing to final judgment. Her areas of expertise include pre-litigation resolution, complex business disputes, including all manner of contract and business torts, alleged securities violations, trade secret allegations, labor and employment issues, construction failures, intellectual property claims, FCPA violations, and internal investigations.

Russell earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas. She also completed a Mini MBA for In-House Counsel at Boston University.

A native Texan, Russell is a frequent speaker on a variety of legal topics in the oil and gas industry. She is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, and a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. She also is a volunteer for the Houston Food Bank and a former member of the board of directors for Theatre Under The Stars.
