Port Arthur man alleges Market Basket did not warn of water on floor that caused fall

BEAUMONT – A Port Arthur man alleges he fell at a business in the city because of water on the floor.

Donald Joe filed a complaint on July 5 in the Jefferson County District Court against Retail Investors of Texas LTD, doing business as Market Basket, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 9, 2016, he was at defendant's Market Basket's premises in Port Arthur when he fell on a large puddle of water on the floor. He alleges he suffered severe injuries to his neck, back, right shoulder and right knee as a result of the fall. 

The plaintiff holds Retail Investors of Texas LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly and failed to warn of the water on the floor.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Jonathan C. Juhan and J.J. Bragg in Beaumont.
