HOUSTON – Harris County resident Angela McCutcheon has brought a product liability lawsuit against Pasadena, Calif.-based Urban626, LLC, claiming she was injured in June while riding the company’s URB-E Sport GT foldable electric scooter.

McCutcheon filed the 13-page suit on July 27 in the Harris County 333rd District Court. She says the scooter gave way beneath her last June 8.

“While riding (the scooter), the subject scooter folded while in motion due to the lack of a locking mechanism preventing the scooter from folding while in use,” the original petition says. “The collapse of the scooter mid-ride caused Ms. McCutcheon to fall hard, causing her severe injuries.”

The suit asserts that Urban626 knew the scooter “had various defects with respect to its safety, and was not suitable for any use, thereby posing a serious threat of injury or death to its consumers.”

Consequently, McCutcheon seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Brian Beckcom and Lena Laurenzo of the law firm VB Attorneys in Houston.
