HOUSTON – A Fort Bend County man alleges he was discriminated against because of his age and gender by his former employer.

David Jones filed a complaint on July 27 in the Harris County District Court against Centerpoint Energy Houston Electric LLC alleging that the retail electric provider violated the Texas Commission on Human Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by the defendant as a service manager for its South Houston/Galveston service centers. He alleges he applied for positions as region director but was not given an interview because of his age and gender. The suit states he was eventually suspended and terminated.

The plaintiff holds Centerpoint Energy Houston Electric LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him regarding the terms, compensation, conditions and privileges of his employment because of his gender and age.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million. He is represented by Craig R. Keener in Houston.
