HOUSTON – An English seaman alleges the negligence caused him to fall aboard a vessel and sustain an injury that will prevent him from returning to work as a subsea engineer.
Tim Cooper filed a complaint on July 31 in the Harris County District Court against Magnum Transcontinental Corp., et al. alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 9, 2017, he was working as a seaman aboard the SSV Victoria when he fell through an open hole in the BOP. He alleges he sustained severe injuries to his shoulder and was diagnosed with permanent disability and impairment that will prevent him from returning to work as a subsea engineer.
The plaintiff holds Magnum Transcontinental Corp., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly design its equipment and appurtenances, failed to maintain the vessel and failed to provide adequate medical treatment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $1 million. He is represented by Nicholas A. Morrow, John D. Sheppard and Daniel E. Sheppard of Morrow & Sheppard LLP in Houston.
