BEAUMONT – A Jefferson County woman is seeking more than $1 million after slipping on safety mat at a Beaumont facility.

Denise Archer filed a complaint on July 20 in the Jefferson County District Court against BASF Corp., et al. alleging premises liability and negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 12, 2016, she was working as an employee of Burrow Global Services and was injured at defendant BASF's facility when the safety mat she was required to pass over slipped out from underneath her and caused her to fall. She alleges she sustained severe injuries to her left elbow, left hip, back and neck as a result of the fall and needed surgery to repair her elbow.

The plaintiff holds BASF Corp., et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly negligently placed the wrong style of mat for a tiled hallway in the main hallway and failed to give warning of the known hazard.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Malachi Daws and Judson Daws of The Daws Law Firm in Beaumont.
