HOUSTON – Two Harris County individuals are seeking damages from three medical practitioners over allegations they failed to timely diagnose their decedent's condition.

Mustafa Sheraze and Bahar Sheraze filed a complaint on Aug. 6 in the Harris County District Court against Asaf Qadeer, MD; Fahran Khan, MD; and Audra Velleca, NP alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 19, 2016, plaintiff's decedent Salman Sheraze was admitted at Houston Northwest Medical Center due to a urinary tract infection. On Aug. 24, 2016, just one day after he was discharged, the suit states he returned to the hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after. The plaintiffs allege that based on the autopsy report, the cause of Salman Sheraze's death was pulmonary thromboemboli due to deep venous thrombosis of left lower extremity.

The plaintiffs hold Qadeer, Khan and Velleca responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to timely diagnose and treat their decedent's medical condition.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which they are justly entitled. They are represented by Randall O. Sorrels and Imrana Manzanares of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston.
