HOUSTON – Two Houston parents allege a medical facility was negligent in the care of their premature infant.

Rebekah Cornett and Kalum Cornett, individually and as personal representatives of the estate of Delaney Cornett, filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the Harris County District Court against C-HCA Inc., doing business as Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Sept. 26, 2016, Delaney Cornett and her twin sister were prematurely born at 25 weeks at Clear Lake Regional Medical Center. The suit states she passed away Oct. 23, 2016, due to septic shock.

The plaintiffs holds C-HCA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide care to Delaney Cornett in accordance with the acceptable standards of nursing care, failed to properly treat her condition and failed to properly monitor and evaluate the patient.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for all their damages, plus interest, costs and such other relief to which they are entitled. They are represented by Mark A. Weycer and Jennifer E. Sheedy of The Weycer Law Firm PC in Bellaire.
