Diffen, chair of McGuireWoods’ renewable energy group, is an accomplished transactional lawyer who advises clients in project development, M&A, and project finance transactions across the renewable energy sector. She co‑authors “Wind Law,” a first-of-its-kind legal treatise updated annually covering environmental, siting and regulatory issues, federal and state incentives, and litigation and transactional topics relevant to the renewable energy industry. Diffen worked as a utility-scale wind developer before earning her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where she now teaches a seminar on electric power and renewable energy law.
Diffen serves as co‑chair of the Austin chapter of Women of Renewable Industries and Sustainable Energy (WRISE), a nonprofit that promotes the advancement of women in the renewable energy industry. She recently was selected for Renewable Energy World’s inaugural “Solar 40 Under 40” list, honored by Chambers USA, and selected as the Austin Under 40award winner in the Engineering, Energy, Mobility and Systems Sciences category.
