HOUSTON – A Harris County resident’s purported slip and fall at a Kemah marina nearly two years ago is the subject of a state district lawsuit.

In court documents filed on Aug. 20 in the Harris County 234th District Court, James Zurga claims the Sept. 7, 2016 incident on a dock that is part of the marina in question owned by Houston Yachts, Inc. and Marina Acquisition Corp. of Florida, Inc., doing business as Kemah Boardwalk Marina.

Zurga was believed to have stepped off a boat and slipped and fell, alleging “there were no anti-slip measures in place on or around the dock even though wet and slippery conditions existed.”

The original petition adds that no warning signs were visible at the time of the subject event, which reportedly caused the complainant to suffer chronic pain, anxiety, and discomfort.

Consequently, Zurga seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Jared W. Capps and Loren G. Klitsas of the law firm Klitsas & Vercher, P.C. in Houston are representing the plaintiff.
