HOUSTON – While the game of golf is not considered a sport in which the human body is stretched beyond its limits, Katy local Kenan Blake asserts in a state district lawsuit that he injured his knee on the green earlier this year.

Blake’s lawsuit, which was filed on Aug. 21 in the Harris County 269th District Court, names Escalante Golf, Inc. and Escalante Black Horse Golf Club, LLC as those responsible for the Apr. 15 incident at 12205 Fry Rd. in Cypress.

According to the original petition, the plaintiff went to retrieve his golf ball when “he stepped into a hidden, uncovered water drain on or close to the fairway” on the South Course.

“The drain was missing its cover – as were several drains around the course – and its depth was approximately up to the height of the plaintiff’s knees,” the suit says. “The plaintiff suffered a severe left knee injury in the fall.”

Consequently, Blake seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by Ryan M. Schaper of the Schaper Law Firm, PLLC in Beaumont.
