HOUSTON – A Harris County consumer alleges that his credit score was injured because a debt collector failed to mark a debt as disputed.

Ricky Bush filed a complaint on Aug. 23 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against National Credit Adjusters LLC alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 1, he discovered on his consumer credit report a consumer debt reported by defendant and he contacted the defendant to dispute the alleged debt's liability and validity. He alleges he ordered a new credit report in August and found the defendant did not mark the debt as disputed.

The plaintiff holds National Credit Adjusters LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly did not report his debt as disputed to the consumer credit reporting agencies.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000, attorney’s fees, litigation expenses and costs, and such other or further relief as the court deems proper. He is represented by Shawn Jaffer of Shawn Jaffer Law Firm in Dallas.
