HOUSTON – A Harris County woman claims she was injured a few months ago while working at a local hospital and has pursued legal action.

Devona Robinson’s lawsuit against Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, Inc., which was filed on Aug. 29 in the Harris County 269th District Court, says the Sodexo employee was hurt when an “improperly serviced and maintained” elevator closed its doors on her.

Robinson says she suffered injuries that rendered her unable to take care of herself, adding she is in “constant” pain.

“The defendants acted recklessly in the face of a known and objectively grave risk in allowing use of this very dangerous elevator without precautions or proper maintenance,” court documents state.

Consequently, Robinson seeks more than $1 million in damages and a jury trial.

The law firm Williams, Kherkher, Hart, Boundas, L.L.P. in Houston is representing the complainant.
