HOUSTON – Local resident Andrea Huerta has filed a lawsuit against Aztec Iron Works after a gate it installed in north Houston injured her, recent Harris County District Court records show.

Huerta claims in court papers filed on Sept. 6 in the Harris County 151st District Court the 21-ft. long ornamental steel rolling gate at 210 Tomlin Rd. fell on top of her after she slid it open.

According to Huerta, she suffered injuries to her back, neck, head, and ankle and was diagnosed with a displaced trimalleolar fracture of the lower right leg.

The suit asserts one of the safety stops installed on the gate panel “were insufficient in size for the critical safety purpose of preventing the gate panel from over-traveling and passing beyond the vertical support posts.”

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Mark A. Weycer and Jennifer E. Sheedy of The Weycer Law Firm, P.C. in Houston.
