Dykema Gossett, PLLC issued the following announcement on Sept. 10.

Dykema, a leading national law firm, is proud to announce that Jane Bockus was selected by the San Antonio Business Journal as one of only 12 attorneys to be named 2018 Outstanding Lawyers Awards recipients. Jane will be honored along with the other co-recipients at an evening event on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, at The Veranda in San Antonio. Additionally, Jane and the other recipients will be featured in the Friday, Oct. 12 issue of the San Antonio Business Journal.

According to the San Antonio Business Journal, its Outstanding Lawyer Awards recognize lawyers for their professional accomplishments, their impact on the legal industry (locally, statewide and nationwide), leadership within their organization and their impact on the community overall.

Bockus is one of a select few female product liability litigators in the country who has tried cases in multiple state and federal court venues involving pharmaceuticals and medical devices. For nearly 40 years, pharmaceutical and medical device companies and their national counsel have counted on her regional knowledge, experience and collaborative approach to complement their national strategies. She has tried more than 30 cases to verdict in a variety of complex matters. In addition to pharmaceuticals and medical devices, she has defended cases involving asbestos, heavy machinery, power tools and electronic appliances.

Outside of her practice, Bockus keeps busy with professional and community involvement initiatives. She is a Life Member and Former Chair of the San Antonio Bar Foundation, a Former President of the San Antonio Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and is a Board Member of the Bexar County Family Justice Center Foundation.

Bockus earned her J.D. from the St. Mary’s University School of Law and a B.A. in History from Southern Methodist University.
