Crossroads Bowling Center guest blames punching bag machine for fall injuries

BEAUMONT – A Beaumont resident alleges he was injured at a bowling alley when he tripped over a punching bag machine.

James Smart filed a complaint on Aug. 29 in the Jefferson County District Court against M & D Bowling Center Inc., doing business as Crossroads Bowling Center, citing premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 6, 2017, he was bowling at Crossroads Bowling Center. He alleges he while walking around a corner, he tripped on the base of a punching bag machine and fell. He alleges he sustained serious injuries resulting in pain and suffering, lost wages, disfigurement and mental anguish as a result.

The plaintiff holds M & D Bowling Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain a safe premises free from dangerous conditions.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of $100,000 or less and such other and further relief to which he may be entitled. He is represented by Taylor Thompson of Provost Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
