BEAUMONT – A patient of Optimum Medical Weight Control and Family Wellness alleges he was injured because he was prescribed unsafe doses of hormones.

Robert Ashworth III filed a complaint on Sept. 4 in the Jefferson County District Court against Kevin Morgan, FNP; Randall Locke, FNP; George Brown, MD; and Marian Querry, DO alleging malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 2015 and Oct. 21, 2016, he was treated by the defendants at Optimum Medical Weight Control and Family Wellness. The suit states he was under a course of treatment of a thyroid hormone product and testosterone and as a result he suffered atrial fibrillation and polycythemia.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly prescribed him thyroid hormones despite his levels being normal and failed to do an adequate physical examination before starting him on testosterone therapy.

The plaintiff seeks all damages, plus interest, costs of court and all other equitable and appropriate relief. He is represented by Christopher T. Kirchmer of Provost & Umphrey Law Firm LLP in Beaumont.
