HOUSTON – A peace officer residing in Harris County alleges she was wrongfully terminated from a school district.
Shambree Onibokun filed a complaint on Sept. 16 in the Harris County District Court against Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District citing the Texas Whistleblower Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant as a peace officer in May 2017. The suit states in September 2017, the plaintiff conducted an investigation of a runaway student "who was found allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a teacher at another school."
The plaintiff alleges after the report was prepared, the school principal made false complaints about her and the plaintiff filed a grievance. The suit states the plaintiff was wrongfully discharged in December 2017.
The plaintiff holds Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District responsible because the defendant allegedly retaliated against her and acted intentionally, deliberately and with wanton disregard of her rights under the Texas Whistleblower Act.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $100,000 but no less than $200,000 and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by LaShawn A. Williams of Baldwin Jones & Williams PLLC in Houston.
