GALVESTON – A property owner alleges its building was damaged by defective workmanship of two companies hired to fix drainage issues.
8601 Southwest Freeway LP filed a complaint on Sept. 17 in the Galveston County District Court against Advance Plumbers Inc. and Roto-Rooter Services Co. alleging that they violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act.
According to the complaint, in June 2017, the plaintiff employed Roto-Rooter to remediate drainage issues on its building in League City for $28,166.66. The suit states Roto-Rooter contracted Advanced Plumbers to perform the work.
After the work was done, the plaintiff alleges the drainage system failed almost immediately. The suit states that the defendants drilled or jack-hammered through grade beams in the building's foundation and the plaintiff had to pay an additional $14,800 to repair the damage.
The plaintiff holds Advance Plumbers Inc. and Roto-Rooter Services Co. responsible because the defendants' repairs allegedly were not performed in a good and workmanlike manner.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of $100,000 or less and such other and further relief to which it may show itself justly entitled. It is represented by Christopher L. Johnson, Justin M. Kornegay and Morgan A. Jenkins of Johnson & Associates Attorneys at Law PLLC in League City.
