HOUSTON – Houston federal court has reportedly taken over a lawsuit arising from an alleged shooting at a local apartment complex two years ago which killed a man.

Originally filed last month in the Harris County 164th District Court, Sharon L. Tisdell’s suit blames the Aug. 4, 2016 death of William Fielding Tisdell at the Garden City Apartments on the complex; its holding company, Monroe Group, Ltd.; and Steele Properties, LLC.

The suit explains that the decedent and two other individuals were leaving the apartments following an argument when “shots were fired at (their) vehicle.” William Fielding Tisdell was “shot several times, fatally injured, and was pronounced dead” while his companions survived, the original petition says.

The suspected assailants purportedly have not been arrested in connection with the incident. Court papers fault the defendants for failing to provide adequate security on the premises.

Consequently, Sharon L. Tisdell seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by Paul K. Stafford of the law firm Thompson & Knight LLP in Dallas.
