HOUSTON – A local woman is suing a Dallas-based airline after an alleged mishap with a wheelchair, according to recent Harris County District Court records.

Renee Hamilton initiated legal action against Southwest Airlines Co. on Sept. 20 in the Harris County 270th District Court. Hamilton claims the wheelchair in question “ran into the back of her leg” as she disembarked from the defendant’s aircraft on Sept. 24, 2016.

The suit asserts that “the motion created in the tunnel by the passengers coming from the plane caused the unsecured wheelchair” to strike Hamilton’s leg.

A vein in the leg purportedly ruptured and “formed a pool of blood” in her leg, according to the complaint.

Hamilton says the injury required surgery.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages.

She is representing herself.
