HOUSTON – Asserting that her apartment complex twice failed to properly fix the stove in her unit, local resident Kathisha Wiltz has filed a lawsuit.

Wiltz’s suit targets BNC Equities, LLC, which operates the Monticello on Cranbrook Apartments where the plaintiff resides.

Court documents filed on Oct. 4 in the Harris County 269th District Court recall Wiltz first reporting a malfunction with the back burner of her original stove to the complex. Though a maintenance worker fixed the problem and assured the plaintiff the stove was back to normal, the suit says, she received an electric discharge from the appliance the day after while placing a pot on the burner.

Wiltz eventually received a replacement stove, to which the complaint states was itself defective.

According to the complainant, improper leveling caused the second stove to sway and lean to the side. A pot of boiling hot water then burned Wiltz’s abdominal section, the suit says.

Consequently, Wiltz seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by The Gonzalez Law Group, PLLC in Houston.
