HOUSTON — A former employee is suing KPMG LLP and KPMG International Cooperative, et al., alleging discrimination and wrongful termination.

Rita Jean Dunphy filed a complaint on Oct. 1, in Harris County District Court, against the defendants alleging that they violated the employment discrimination provision of the Texas Labor Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between October 2016 and April 2017, defendant underwent reorganization, and she was informed that she was unsuccessful in achieving a promotion and that her position at her current level was being terminated.

She has suffered lost wages and benefits, emotional pain, mental anguish and lost of enjoyment of life.

The plaintiff holds KPMG and KPMG International Cooperative, et al, responsible because the defendants allegedly did not give her an opportunity to apply for any job at her existing level or any jobs below that, but instead, the position at her level was filled with a younger male employee.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks reinstatement and promotion to the position and pay grade that she would have held, and award for all damages, with interest, and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled.

She is represented by Jason D. Rowe of Rowe Law PLLC in Houston.
