HOUSTON – Three local attorneys have been implicated in a state district barratry lawsuit.
The suit, which was filed on Oct. 7 in the Harris County 127th District Court, asserts Joseph Holden and Sharon Norris had their case arising from a Christmas Eve 2016 motor vehicle accident mishandled by Randell Sylvan Boochoon, Joe Micah Williams, and Paul Thomas Bowers.
The plaintiffs initially hired Bowers to represent them. With his professional relationship with Holden and Norris having gone from positive to negative because of supposed communication failures, Bowers sold his practice at 9894 Bissonnet St. and transferred the client files to Williams, the suit says.
The complainants claim that they did not know about the sale and Williams acquired their case without their permission. Williams then sold his own practice and handed the plaintiffs’ files to Boochoon, all of which was also done in alleged secrecy, the suit says.
Court papers further explain that the case was recently settled yet the complainants learned that the defendants previously withheld $5,000 from them for more than a year, as well as refused to return their files.
Consequently, the plaintiffs seek unspecified monetary damages.
