HOUSTON – A Harris County man alleges he suffered injury and vision loss to his right eye as a result of a procedure.

Cecil Jackson filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the Harris County District Court against Dr. Anjali Panjwani alleging breach in the standard of care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 20, 2016, he was treated with a retro-bulbar block to the right eye performed by the anesthesiology team led by defendant, prior to cataract removal. Since then, he alleges he has experienced severe visual impairment and permanent vision loss due to traumatic optic nerve injury by anesthesia in that eye.

The plaintiff holds Panjwani responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently perforated the globe by injecting anesthesia agent into the vitreous.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Collin D. Cobb of Law Office of Collin D. Cobb in Port Neches and John Werner of Reaud, Morgan & Quinn LLP in Beaumont.
