HOUSTON – A Bandera County man alleges he was injured on a work site because of the negligence of a Houston company's employee.

Russell Floyd filed a complaint on Oct. 24 in the Harris County District Court against Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. alleging negligence and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was employed by Nine Energy Services as a field supervisor and was assigned to a cement lifting operating with the defendant's assistance. The suit states that on July 27, he was removing a 700-900 pound cement head from a pipe when defendant's worker caused the cement head to come off of the pipe and strike him, causing him to fall to the ground. He alleges he sustained severe injuries to his jaw, shoulder, leg and toe as a result of the incident.

The plaintiff holds Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to have safety barriers or crash cushions to prevent equipment from striking workers and failed to adequately train and qualify its employees on the adequate use of cranes.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Javier Espinoza and Lara Brock of Espinoza Law Firm PLLC in San Antonio.
