HOUSTON – A Harris County woman is seeking $1 million after falling at a Katy grocery store.

Amaka Mourning filed a complaint on Oct. 25 in the Harris County District Court against Aldi (Texas) LLC and Aldi Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 27, 2016, she was a patron at defendants' store premises in Katy when she fell in the area where a foreign substance was present. She alleges she sustained severe and serious injuries to her back and body, which resulted in pain, discomfort, loss of earning capacity and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Aldi (Texas) LLC and Aldi Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to properly train and supervise their employees and failed to remedy a known hazard.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is representing herself.
