'Poorly maintained' elevator at UTMB prompts litigation

Lawsuits

GALVESTON – The law firm Glaze * Garrett, P.L.L.C. in Gilmer, Tex. has filed a lawsuit on behalf of two individuals who claim they were injured during an elevator ride last year at the University of Texas Medical Branch, recent Galveston County District Court records show.

Stephanie and Keshawn Young are suing EMR Elevator, Inc. in the Galveston County 212th District Court over the July 10, 2017 incident in question.

The plaintiffs assert in court documents filed on Nov. 1 that the elevator “was poorly maintained, inspected, and/or repaired, and malfunctioned.”

Consequently, they seek unspecified monetary damages.
