HOUSTON – A Brazoria County man is suing Reliance Industries, LLC after equipment reportedly manufactured by the company failed to prevent him from falling on the job earlier this year, recent Harris County District Court records show.

In a lawsuit filed on Nov. 7 in the Harris County 61st District Court, Reymundo Mendoza explains that he was wearing a Reliance brand harness and lifeline while working on top of an iron beam about 40 feet in the air at the FLNG facility in Freeport when he “lost his footing” and “the (Reliance) equipment failed.”

The plaintiff fell, but “remarkably” survived and was transported to the hospital, the original petition says.

He is reportedly still undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Consequently, Mendoza seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

Juan Garcia of the law firm Johnson Garcia LLP in Houston is representing the complainant.
