HOUSTON – A Harris County woman alleges she was injured while shopping at a Webster store when an item fell on her.

Maria Moran filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in the Harris County District Court against Academy LTD, doing business as Academy Sports & Outdoors, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 23, 2016, she was shopping at defendant's Academy Sports & Outdoors store in Webster when a box fell on her feet. She alleges she sustained serious personal injuries and had to seek medical treatment as a result of the incident.

The plaintiff holds Academy LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to monitor the condition of the items in the store and failed to give adequate warning of any potential danger.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Husein Hadi, Jamil Thomas, Carnegie H. Mims III and Sedrick Stagg of The Hadi Law Firm in Houston.
