HOUSTON – A couple alleges the husband was injured at a Houston retailer because of a strip of plastic in a restroom.

Noe G. Aleman and Karla Maribel Cantu Garcia filed a complaint on Nov. 9 in the Harris County District Court against Harbor Freight Tools USA Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 19, 2016, Noe Aleman was at the defendant's store when he tripped on a strip of black plastic that was protruding from the floor of the men's restroom and then slipped on a substance on the floor. He alleges he sustained severe and lasting injuries to his left hip, left knee and left foot as a result of the fall. Cantu Garcia alleges she suffered loss of consortium.

The plaintiffs hold Harbor Freight Tools USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect and maintain the floor in question and failed to provide adequate warning of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which they may be justly entitled. They are represented by Jared B. Ynigez of The Law Office of Jared B. Ynigez PLLC in Houston.
