Contract 07

GALVESTON – A Galveston County property owner alleges a League City contractor failed to complete remodeling work on her property as contracted.

Vivian Slater filed a complaint on Nov. 7 in the Galveston County District Court against John M. Guillot, individually and Atlas Construction and Remodeling, alleging negligence, breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, on Nov. 1, 2017, the plaintiff contracted the defendants to repair and remodel her home in Dickinson for $83,887. She alleges she made three payments toward the work before the defendants submitted a notice to quit in January without completing several projects.

She alleges she was left with an unfinished home and was forced to hire other workers to finish the incomplete project.

The plaintiff holds Guillot, individually and Atlas Construction and Remodeling, responsible because the defendants allegedly breached the contract by failing to fully complete and/or start the work and provided her an improper and invalid notice to quit.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, with interest, attorney's fees, costs and such other and further relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Gene A. Watkins of Sherman Watkins PLLC in Houston.
