Injured worker seeks damages from Excel Maintenance Services, Westlake Chemical

HOUSTON – A Galveston County man alleges he was injured by chemicals while working at a plant in Harrison County.

Paul Morgan filed a complaint on Nov. 13 in the Harris County District Court against Excel Maintenance Services Inc. and Westlake Chemical Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 4, he sustained injuries and burns while working for defendant Excel at defendant Westlake's project at the Eastman Plant. He alleges the defendants agreed to reduce the protective clothing requirement and told the plaintiff to work without protective clothing. He alleges he was injured and burned by chemicals.

The plaintiff holds Excel Maintenance Services Inc. and Westlake Chemical Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to maintain a safe working environment for contractors.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of no more than $100,000. He is represented by Mohammad Abdel-Rahman of Daspit Law Firm in Houston.
