HOUSTON – A Muslim man residing in Humble alleges his faith and race were factors in his termination from a medical center.

Jananzeb Toosy filed a complaint on Nov. 16 in the Harris County District Court against Houston Northwest Operating Co. LLC, doing business as Houston Northwest Medical Center, alleging that the hospital operator violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Texas Labor Code.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant in October 2012 as a laboratory technologist. He alleges during his employment, other employees would call him inappropriate names and refuse to eat lunch with him. He was terminated on May 21.

The plaintiff holds Houston Northwest Operating Co. LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly discriminated against him in regards with the compensation, terms, conditions and privileges of employment because of his color, race and national origin.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of less than $100,000 and such other and further relief to which he is entitled. He is represented by Marc M. Meyer of Law Office of Marc Meyer PLLC in Magnolia.
