BEAUMONT – A Beaumont resident is seeking more than $200,000 after falling at a fast food restaurant in the city.

Linsey Shaeffer filed a complaint on Nov. 6 in the Jefferson County District Court against Houston Foods Inc., doing business as Burger King, and Parkdale Mall CMBS LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 21, 2017, she was injured at defendants' Burger King restaurant when she slipped and fell in a large puddle of water on the floor. She alleges she suffered severe pain in her right knee with soreness, swelling and bruising as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Houston Foods Inc. and Parkdale Mall CMBS LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to reduce or eliminate the risk or warn of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which she may be justly entitled. She is represented by Jonathan C. Juhan and J.J. Bragg in Beaumont.
