HOUSTON – A Houston consumer alleges he has been injured by inaccurate information on his credit report.

James Rohn filed a complaint on Nov. 9 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp., doing business as CenterPoint Energy, and Trans Union LLC alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges in 2015, he paid off an account balance with CenterPoint but as of March, the account is still reported as delinquent in employment background checks. He alleges this inaccurate information on his report may have led to a higher loan interest rate and a denial of a job offer.

The plaintiff holds CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp. and Trans Union LLC responsible because Trans Union allegedly failed to provide prompt notice of his dispute and CenterPoint continues to report his account as delinquent in employment background checks.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, attorney’s fees and costs and and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Ramona Ladwig of Hyde & Swigart in Dallas.
