HOUSTON – An installation engineer alleges wet stairs on a drill ship caused her to fall and injure her jaw.

Abnet Tekle filed a complaint on Nov. 30 in the Harris County District Court against TechnipFMC US Holdings LLC, et al. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 3, 2015, she was in the course and scope of her employment with TechnipFMC when she suffered a serious fall aboard drill ship Deepwater Champion. She alleges the fall was caused by improperly kept stairs and she was caused to injure her jaw, four front teeth, four bottom teeth, knee, nose, lip and chin.

The plaintiff holds TechnipFMC US Holdings LLC, et al. responsible because the stairs allegedly were positioned under the skate, which allowed water to drip on them; the area allegedly was dimly lit; and the steps allegedly did not have nonskid surfacing.

The plaintiff seeks damages for all the injuries she sustained and such other and further relief deemed appropriate. She is represented by Michael P. Doyle, Patrick M. Dennis and Jeffrey Avery of Doyle LLP in Houston.
