TYLER – A Whitehouse resident alleges debt collectors are calling her to collect a debt she does not owe.

Stephanie Arthur filed a complaint on Dec. 3 in the Tyler Division of the Eastern District of Texas against TLRA Debt Recovery, et al. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in or around early 2017, the defendants began calling her cellphone in an attempt to collect a medical bill allegedly incurred by her daughter. The plaintiff alleges she disputed the debt and requested that the defendants cease calling her, but the calls continue at an "annoying and harassing rate."

The plaintiff holds TLRA Debt Recovery, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly violated the FDCPA by attempting to collect a debt from her that she does not owe.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, attorneys’ fees, costs and disbursements, and such other and further relief, as well as further costs and expenses as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Michael S. Agruss of Agruss Law Firm LLC in Chicago.
