DALLAS – Scott Bailey and Wei Xu have joined the Dallas office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges as associates in the firm’s Corporate Department.
Bailey joins the Firm after founding and leading his own private general legal practice, which he started in Midland, Texas, and later relocated to Dallas, Texas. In his prior practice, he counseled clients on matters including oil, gas and energy resources; business and entity law; and real estate and property law. He also previously served as the co-founder and managing partner of a consulting and advisory services firm for clients in various sectors of the energy industry.
Additionally, he is a member of the Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. Bailey earned his J.D., cum laude, from the Texas Tech University School of Law and his B.S. from Texas Tech University. While in law school, he was a member of the Board of Barristers and served on the executive board of Texas Tech Law Review.
Bailey
Prior to joining Weil, Xu was a corporate associate at a large global law firm, where he represented clients in a variety of public and private mergers and acquisitions, private equity deals, divestitures, corporate governance matters, and equity and debt financing transactions.
Xu earned his J.D. from the Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law and previously completed his B.A. at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in law school, he participated in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Summer Honors Program in the Atlanta regional office.
