HOUSTON – A Houston resident is seeking more than $1 million from his former employer over allegations of discrimination based on national origin.

Sri Raghunatha Venkatesawra Babu Bangauru filed a complaint on Dec. 10 in the Harris County District Court against Shell U.S. Hosting Co. and Shell Exploration Production Co. alleging national origin discrimination and retaliation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff he alleges he was recruited and hired by the Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Cos. in 1997. The suit states in January 2016, he was informed by the defendant that it intended to repatriate him to India, where he has no home and no citizenship. He alleges since filing complaints regarding the repatriation and severance package, the defendant has reduced the severance offer by $28,000.
