HOUSTON – A Fort Bend County man is seeking damages from a hospital and others over his wife's 2016 death.
Donald Thibodeaux, individually and as representative of the estate of Patricia Thibodeaux, deceased filed a complaint on Dec. 26 in the Harris County District Court against Methodist Health Centers, et al. alleging medical negligence.
According to the complaint, on Dec. 28, 2016, Patricia Thibodeaux went to the emergency department of Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital with complaints of abdominal pain following a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. The suit states a CT revealed a periumbilical hernia and she was admitted with plans for surgery.
The suit states after surgery, her condition deteriorated over the next several hours and she eventually went into cardiac arrest. The suit states she died Dec. 29, 2016.
The plaintiff holds Methodist Health Centers, et al. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to institute appropriate medical and nursing care, failed to take precautions to prevent injuries and failed to recognize the risk of aspiration.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of more than $200,000 but less than $1 million and such other and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Muhammad S. Aziz and Michelle A. Ciolek of Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Sorrels, Agosto & Aziz in Houston.
