SHERMAN – A Denton County consumer alleges a debt collector made a false statement on a letter it sent her.

Twamea N. Davis filed a complaint on Dec. 28 in the Sherman District of the Eastern District of Texas against National Credit Systems Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Texas Debt Collection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 28, 2018, she received a collection letter from the defendant attempting to collect upon an alleged debt. She alleges the letter stated that the alleged debt had been reported to all three national credit bureaus and that this statement was false as the alleged debt was not reported to Equifax.

The plaintiff holds National Credit Systems Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly made false statement in order to deceptively force her into making a payment.

The plaintiff seeks actual and punitive damages, attorney fees, costs and any other relief as the court deems just and appropriate. She is represented by Nathan C. Volheim and Taxiarchis Hatzidimitriadis of Sulaiman Law Group LTD in Lombard, Illinois.
