HOUSTON – A California truck driver alleges he was injured while traveling in Houston when the brakes of another tractor-trailer failed and caused a collision.

James Andre Jefferson filed a complaint on Jan. 14 in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against Empire Truck Lines Inc., Julian Suarez Palacios and Joel Campos alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 25, 2017, he was involved in a collision with defendants' truck-trailer on Interstate Highway 10 near Ralph Fair Road in Houston. The suit states the brakes on the defendants' tractor-trailer failed when Palacios applied them and caused the vehicle to collide into the tractor-trailer driven by the plaintiff.

The plaintiff alleges he suffered injuries that resulted in great mental pain and suffering and general damages of more than $90,000.

The plaintiff holds Empire Truck Lines Inc., Palacios and Campos responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to inspect and maintain the brakes.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount according to proof, plus costs, and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by I. Donald Weissman of Weissman Law Firm in Tarzana, California.
